3 Attributes Needed When Blogging To Make Money

Money

Money1 3 Attributes Needed When Blogging To Make MoneyBlogging to make money involves more than learning how to set up a blog and ‘pounding’ out a few post on your keyboard. The idea of creating a blog from which you can earn an income is exciting HOWEVER the blog is only as good as the blogger behind it.

A look around the internet reveals that most popular blogs are frequently updated and stick to a consistent theme. At another glance it is also evident that most of the successful business blogs have been online for a while. So what does it takes to set and operate a blog from which you can earn a nifty income?

Here are 3 attributes you will need to possess if you have any intentions of creating a blog from which you can draw an income.

Vision

Having the ability to form a mental image of what you want and how to get there is easier said than done. Your vision needs to be clear enough to develop a realistic and workable plan that will help you get to where you want to go. This image if strong enough also serves as a strong source of motivation.

Commitment

Most popular blogs clearly display their commitment through the consistency of their posting. Another clear indication of commitment is the passion that is evident in the posts themselves. You can tell by reading a bloggers post how much if any enthusiasm they have for their subject matter.

If you do not have the passion or commitment needed to develop a blog you are wasting your time even launching it to begin with. It will take some time to attract a crowd and then it will take additional effort to win their loyalty. As the saying goes ‘time will tell’ and on a blog it always does.

Patience

There is no such thing as overnight success and with a blog this is especially true. The popularity of a blog is based upon its ability to ‘grow’ on its readers. Only time, effort and diligence will get you where you want to go to so get comfortable and do not expect to see results right away.

Blogging to make money can be a lot of fun as well as lucrative but it goes far beyond simply learning how to set up a blog and posting a few entries. When creating a blog for income earning purposes you need to realize that business blogs take time and dedication BEFORE you can expect to see any money. The 3 attributes mentioned above are something no blogging platform can supply but yet are your most valuable assets. If you consider your blog to be the foundation of your business than consider these attributes to be the mortar that holds it all together!

Blogging to Make Money Offers Simplicity Yet Requires Passion

Blogging to make money online has attracted many due to the fact that creating a blog is easy. However many quit their efforts before they reach any level of success because blog building requires a lot of patience. The fact of the matter quick frankly is that a home business blog, if maintained properly, can earn you a tidy little income. The problem for many is their need for INSTANT gratification and this is something you can NOT plan on if you blog to make money! Obviously a lack of passion is also a large contributing factor as to why many quit so soon. For those who do stick with it they find that set-up and maintenance is relatively simple. All they need to supply is persistence and consistency!

Here are 5 key components every successful home business blog contains that are simple to supply and require some patience to maintain. If you got the passion you got what it takes to succeed!

Offer Quality Content

This is what brings them and hooks them! If you post entertaining, intriguing or useful information relevant to the theme of your site you will attract readers. By continuing to do so most readers will return and this is what you are striving for is to build up their loyalty. When first creating a blog much consideration should be given to content development.

Be Persistent

You want your readers to know they can depend on you to be there. Persistency is the biggest obstacle many face when they blog to make money. Maintaining a consistent posting schedule becomes challenging due to lack of writing ideas and the time it takes for the site to show progress. Many grow frustrated or impatient and thereby give up prematurely.

Connect With Readers

If you approach your blogging with a passion for what you write about connecting with others on your site will be a ‘cake walk’ for you. Your enthusiasm will make it easy for you to join in on the conversations and answer questions directed at you. This is one of the best ways to connect with your readers on a home business blog. Also pay attention to their comments since often they will tell you what it is they want you to write about.

Pleasing Layout

Avoid the temptation of loading up your site with all kinds of ads but instead make it easy to navigate. You also want to concern yourself with large blocks of text in your post that can lead to eye strain for readers. Break the text down into smaller paragraphs and sentences and use imagery and narrow margins. This gives viewers a place where they can ‘rest’ their eyes from the text.

Make Subscribing Easy

Remember to place your subscription button prominently on the page. You want visitors to return and subscribing to your rss feed is a great way to help them do so. Place the button at the top of the page and be sure it is labeled clearly!

Blogging to make money can be exciting and rewarding and certainly a lot easier if you have a passion for what you are doing. The fact of the matter is that many do not have the patience it takes to endure the blog building process. As a result many ‘walk away’ shortly after creating a blog because they do not see results fast enough. This signals a dire need for INSTANT gratification and of course a lack of passion for what they do. However if passion is something you possess than the 5 key components we mentioned above, that every successful blog contains, are all you need to succeed. When you blog to make money you may not experience financial rewards quickly but in time you will be glad you stayed the course. At that point both your wallet and your passions will be greatly rewarded!

Planning a Website – Creating a Website from Scratch

I personally have never been a great fan of exploring information all over the internet, looking for answers. I generally want it all in one place – served to me in a dish. Though most would disagree but I’m sure there are many people who are like me.

Have you ever wanted to create a website or maybe create a blog? But you don’t know where to begin? Before you dive into the technicalities of web hosting, HTML, programming and so forth, it is best to first plan your approach. In this short article I will attempt to some up some key information regarding the steps taken to PLAN a website and make it a success.

Let’s dive right in to it then!

1) How much does a website cost?

In short – not much, but don’t expect it to be FREE of cost either. You will be spending not more than USD in the very beginning, this would last you for a year without thinking too much. When I say , I’m covering 1 years worth of web hosting and domain name registeration, with taking into account of a few extra things.

I would advice not spending much money in the beginning, your first goal should be to setup your website and make a name for yourself – in technical terms, getting your website listed in popular search engines like Google and Yahoo.

You will incur costs primarily in:

Domain Name Registration:

This is the physical address of your website – it will be used by your visitors to access your website. Example: www.mydomain.com

Normally domains don’t cost more than .99 per year but this can vary depending on the company. If you purchase your domain from GoDaddy however, they will give you the first year for .99 if you purchase web hosting as well – Which I’m sure you will.

Web Hosting:

Web hosting is virtual space where your website will be hosted on so that other viewers can access it anytime 24/7 even if you’re not present.

There are many hosting providers you out there and after many years of hassle I can easily recommend GoDaddy to anyone new. They have amazing and reliable services which are also cheap and dependable.

Website Building Software (Optional):

Assuming this is your first time exploring the subject of creating a website, this may come as a handful. Spending money on purchasing software can also seem like a lot. I would highly recommend purchasing Adobe Dreamweaver as this will give you forever benefit if you’re looking to explore websites as a profession.

At the same time – if you’re still on a trial basis then you can use something free such as Notepad++.

2) What kind of website knowledge do I need to have?

Basic Computer Skills

Obviously, you will need to know how to use and operate a computer at an intermediate level. You need to know how to tackle basic problems and have used computers for a decent length of time.

Decent Writing Skills

You don’t have to be a guru at writing long lengths of text. You only need to be able to describe yourself well under a limited number of words. Obviously this will improve over time once you start to get a hang of writing at length.

Basic HTML Skills

This isn’t a requirement nor a limitation but is advisable. The more you know the better. Having a basic grasp of HTML will give you the extra edge in understanding how to build and edit websites.

I would recommend taking a look at W3Schools(.com), just to get familiar with the basics.

3) Selecting a Niche or a Target Market

What is a niche you ask? It is a small segment of an existing market that you wish to target. For instance – say you’re selling Play mats, then you might want to target moms between an age group of 30 – 40. This will be your niche.

Similarly, you need to have an idea that will drive your website, something that will want readers to come over to your website. You need to adopt a topic that you want to sell to your audience. That audience will represent your niche.

It is important you brainstorm a list of ideas and than narrow them down. Always pick something you are comfortable with, something that you have good knowledge and passion for, something you can speak at length for hours and hours.

4) How long will it take?

It will take you up to 6-8 months to generate steady traffic and up to a year for you to start earning revenue from your website. If you can’t comprehend this kind of delay then don’t create a website, this isn’t the right field for you.

I’m sorry if that sounds harsh – but it’s a fact. If you were looking to earn a few extra bucks in your summer vacation then it’s not going to work. You need to work hard to achieve something. The money may look good from a distance but you need to work over time to make it a reality.

5) Where does the money come from?

There are various sources you can make money online from, but the catch is, you need to have sufficient traffic.

Affiliate Programs:

This is what drives many websites today. It works on a per sale basis. You are the agent marketing the product of another website. You will be given a code which you will use on your website – this will be in the form of an advertisement. If someone clicks on the advertisement from your website and makes a purchase, you will be rewarded with commission based on the sale.

Google Adsense:

The second most common trend among website owners is Google Adsense. This works in a similar fashion to Affiliate Programs but in this case you are paid on a PER CLICK basis rather than a PER SALE basis.

To make this easier to understand we’ll need to dive into the backend of how this works. Google Adwords is a program that allows website owners to advertise their website among other websites. Google charges a sum of money on a PER CLICK basis. The more the clicks Google generates, the more traffic is generated. The revenue Google makes from Adwords is given to Adsense users after Google deducts its cut.

Selling Products:

A website is an excellent place to find new customers. With the internet taking a big leap into the future, pretty much every other thing you see is going online. Online shopping is probably one of the biggest thing it has to offer – this gives you an excellent opportunity to market your products if you’re a producer or a retailer.

6) What is a Blog? Do I need one?

If you’ve used the internet for sometime then it is likely you may already know what blogs are and you will have a good idea why they are used – but let us still discuss this for the newer folks.

Blogs are a series of posts laid out in a chronological order and in a categorized form to deliver information to its audience on a regular basis.

This might sound like a handful but let me simplify it. Blogs are aimed at people who make regular updates to their websites in the form of content or news stories. Most modern blogs allow users to subscribe to a feed that gives them regular updates on the click (I’m sure some users may be familiar with RSS) and at the same time allow users to comment on posts.

So, do you need a blog? Well, there are two sides of the argument. Are you someone who regularly has something to say? Do you write content and news stories regularly? Then the answer is probably – YES.

However, is your Niche something stagnant? Something that doesn’t change over time or quickly then maybe a blog isn’t a good idea for you, probably because blogs don’t play a good role in building static content.

Some popular blogs I like to look at are Mashable(.com) and TechCrunch(.com).

I’ve covered the basis in this topic that will probably answer much of the questions of a new comer. Once this has been done – you can now easily begin to search for a decent domain name and getting it registered. Good luck!

I’m Adnan a freelance programmer, graphics/website designer and the founder of WebsiteDeck. I enjoy anything website related whether it is a simple discussion to a full scale website project. I’m a part time writer and I write content related to my own field – Websites and Website Design.

Blogging And Making Money

Blogging-And-Making-Money

Blogging And Making Money 150x150 Blogging And Making MoneyToday, there are many bloggers who maintains their blog website as a business. They spend the majority of their time blogging and making money. This is a trend widely accepted by online businesses. Capitalizing on blogs, popularity, corporate America has used the opportunity to get closer to their clients and potential customers.

There are many bloggers in the internet that makes a decent living by just blogging. If you want to make money out of blogging, it is important to remember that not every blog is right for making money.

First of all, you should ask yourself why you blog.

Many people have different reasons on why they blog. Some reasons for blogging include blogging for recreational purpose, promoting an online or offline business, as a personal diary, to help others, to make friends, for fun, to become known and finally to make money.

Again, why do tou blog?

If you are blogging and making money, you should first understand the two types of earning methods in blogging: The Direct Income Method and; the Indirect Income Method.

In direct income method, you can earn money directly from blogs. In indirect income method, you can earn money because of your blog.

One great way to earn income from your blog is through affiliate programs. This program works by getting a commission for referring a visitor or reader from your blog website to buy a product or service from the company you signed up as an affiliate. To succeed in this type of method, you should choose an affiliate that is related to the topics discussed in your blog website. This is because visitors in your blog are targeted internet traffic; you don’t want to affiliate with a pet store if your site and blog is about guns.

Asking your readers for a tip may seem ridiculous, but it might work. If you already have a large number of loyal readers in your blog and actively participating in it, you can ask them to donate money for your blog. Remember that you should first create a large number of loyal readers before you ask for donations.

Another great way to make money out of your blogs is to sell stuff, like t-shirts, mugs and other small things that you can personalize. Create your own logo and post the designs on your blogs. This is great if your readers are loyal to your blog, they may want to buy something that would make them part of the group.

You can create a subscription based blog. Asking for payment to view your blog and participate in it would generate income. However, there are many blogs out there that may offer the same topic as yours for free. Since free is preferred more than fee, this type of method can rarely succeed. To make this work you may need to be a real expert on a specific topic.

Selling blogs is another way to make money out of blogs. For this, you may need to create a great website in order for it to sell. It should also have a large readership to make this work. You can successfully sell blogs in an auction sites, many buyers will take a look at your blog first and determine if there are a large number of readers and also take a look at the quality of the website.

Some readers will be someone who seeks writers to employ. If you write a good article about a specific topic in your blog, these people may probably hire you to write for them, either for their website or offline as a freelance writer for a newspaper or magazine. You and your skills are discovered through your blog. Your reputation is also important for this to work. Your blog should be able to attract large amount of readers and also remain loyal to you.

Another way to make money is through speaking opportunities. For this, you need to impress readers on what you write about in your blog. Readers can sometimes be a scout looking for someone to speak for their seminars or workshops. Some request might ask you to speak for a seminar for free and some might pay you. Do not reject requests on speaking for free; this is because it will be beneficial for your reputation. Be patient, more offers will come that will be offering payment for your speaking services.

Having the ability to interact with others and clearly make your points is an absolute necessity in the blog building process. Furthermore you must genuinely enjoy doing this since the process can take quite a long time. These skills are something you will be using ALL the time since these sites are ‘rooted’ in socializing.

Passionate

Whatever you choose to base your theme on it is best that you posses an unbridled passion for it since you will be writing a lot about it. This passion will make your ‘work’ seem more like play and your content more interesting because readers will see and feel the passion in what you produce.

Inquisitive

Patience

Do not expect to see overnight results from your efforts since gaining the loyalty of people will take time. They first will need to find your site and then they will need to gain an interest in what you post. After that it is up to you to consistently supply quality information and only then will people become loyal to your site. Obviously patience will be a very important ally for you.

Self Motivated

As a blogger you will mainly work alone and there will be times you may be ‘tempted’ to slack off. With nobody around to encourage you on, you will need to be very self-motivated, especially when the results are slow at materializing.

Blogging to make money can be very lucrative but it is not without its challenges. The blog building process will test your patience and commitment. In addition to this you will need to interact with your readers to help increase their level of satisfaction along with your chances of success. Blog marketing is a balance of utilizing your writing and socialization skills along with a certain ‘flair’ for promoting as well. With all that said you can see how the blogging business can be a very challenging occupation. There is obviously a need for certain personality traits such as the 7 mentioned above which will help to contribute significantly to your success. If you possess these traits and a passion for what it is you want to focus your blogging business on then you will be off to a very strong and promising start.
